An ASO audit answers one question: what is costing you installs right now, and in what order should you fix it? We review both stores the way their ranking systems read them: the text they index, the behavior they reward, and the gates that cap everything else. The output isn't a score to frame. It's a ranked fix list with the reasoning behind every item.
What you get
A 15-point teardown of both stores: metadata, rankings, creative, ratings, localization and the newest store surfaces.
Keyword and competitor gap analysis: the terms you rank for, the ones you should, and who holds them today.
A creative and conversion review of your icon, first three screenshots and preview video, benchmarked against your category.
A ratings health check: your average, its recent trend, and the themes driving low reviews.
A prioritized 90-day roadmap, with growth-capping problems first and the rest ranked by impact and effort.
A 60-minute walkthrough call to go through every priority and decide who runs it.
What's included
The six areas we score, on both stores.
Metadata & keywords
On iOS you get 160 indexed characters: a 30-character name, a 30-character subtitle and a 100-character keyword field. Google Play reads the title, the 80-character short description and the full description. We check how each character is spent, from duplicates to wasted spaces.
Rankings & competitor gaps
Where you rank for the terms that matter, which competitors hold the ones you're missing, and whether you rank first for your own brand name, the easiest installs you have.
Creative & conversion
Your icon, first three screenshots and preview video, judged against your category. In Storemaven's study of 500 million sessions, 60% of visitors never scrolled past the first impression (2021).
Ratings & reviews
Your rating level and trend, the themes in your 1–2 star reviews, how often you reply, and where your rating prompt fires. Apps rated 4.5 or higher install at 1.7 times the rate of apps under 4.0 (Digital Applied, 2026).
Localization & markets
Which storefronts already send you traffic, which languages you ship, and which extra keyword fields you leave empty. The US storefront alone reads ten localizations.
New store surfaces
Custom product pages with linked keywords, iOS 27's new header and search-results assets, and Ask Play on Google Play: the surfaces most listings haven't caught up with yet.
How we decide what to fix first
Most audits hand you a long list of issues at equal weight. We rank ours in two passes. The first looks for gates: problems that cap your growth no matter how good everything else is. Our public ASO audit checklist uses four of them, and any one caps an app's grade.
Gate
Why it caps growth
Not #1 for your own name
People searching your brand are your easiest installs. If a competitor or a similar name outranks you, you lose them first.
Rating under 4.0
Conversion falls off at the 4.0 line, and a low rating sits next to every screenshot you test.
Google Play policy violation
A policy problem can block updates or remove the listing, which stops every other fix from shipping.
Android vitals over threshold
Google can demote apps with high crash or ANR rates in search and show a warning on the listing. The crash-rate threshold is 1.09% (Android Developers, 2026).
The second pass ranks everything else by expected impact against effort. Quick metadata fixes, such as wasted keyword characters or a subtitle repeating the name, ship first. Creative tests come next, because they need weeks of traffic. Bigger projects like new localizations or custom product pages get scheduled against the markets and keywords that justify them.
Public listing vs your analytics
Automated score tools grade what anyone can see on your listing. With read access to your App Store Connect and Play Console analytics, the audit also reads your conversion by traffic source, search versus browse installs and keyword-level impressions. That's usually where the real priorities come from.
How an engagement runs
Two weeks from kickoff to roadmap, then a call to walk through it. If you continue with a monthly plan, the roadmap becomes the plan.
01 · Kickoff
Access & goals
You share read access to App Store Connect and Play Console analytics. We agree on goals, markets and the five competitors to benchmark against.
02 · Week 1
Teardown
We audit both stores across all 15 points, pull keyword and competitor data, and review creative against your category.
03 · Week 2
Roadmap
A prioritized 90-day roadmap: gates first, then fixes ranked by impact and effort, each with the reasoning behind it.
04 · Walkthrough
60-minute call
We walk through every priority and answer questions. You decide whether to run the plan in-house or with us.
Pricing
The ASO Audit is a one-time engagement at $1,490. It's also the first step of our monthly plans: Growth ($3,990/month) and Full-Stack ($7,990/month) both include it.

Know exactly where you stand, and what to fix first.
An ASO audit is a structured review of your App Store and Google Play presence: keywords and metadata, rankings, creative, ratings, localization and newer surfaces like custom product pages. Each area is scored and the output is a ranked fix list, so you know what to change first and why.
What's included in your ASO audit?
A 15-point store presence teardown, keyword and competitor gap analysis, a creative and conversion review, a prioritized 90-day roadmap and a 60-minute walkthrough call. It covers both the App Store and Google Play.
How much does an ASO audit cost?
$1,490 as a one-time engagement. The audit is also included as the first step of our Growth plan ($3,990 per month) and Full-Stack plan ($7,990 per month), both month-to-month.
How long does an ASO audit take?
About two weeks. The teardown happens in week one and the prioritized roadmap is delivered in week two, followed by a 60-minute walkthrough call.
How often should you audit your App Store listing?
Quarterly, plus before major releases and after big listing changes. Listings move fast: in 2025, 34% of top apps on both stores updated their description twice or more (AppTweak, 2026). Re-running the same rubric keeps results comparable over time.
Can we do an ASO audit ourselves?
Mostly. 57 of the 60 checks in our public ASO audit checklist run on free tools, App Store Connect, Play Console or a manual review. The parts that need paid keyword data, and the call on what to fix first, are where an outside audit helps most.
